“Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her… Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise…"Proverbs 31:28 & 31
From my mother, grandmother and aunts, who primarily raised me, I learned the importance of sisterhood, unity and healing through laughter. Because of the love for my communities and love for women and their children, I decided upon the field of midwifery.
I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Arts in 2006. In 2008 I began studying midwifery at Maternidad La Luz – The Birth Place, which is a MEAC accredited and noteworthy birthing center in the heart of El Paso, Texas. While there I served majority clients of the Latina/Hispanic race who mainly speak Spanish. I am bi-lingual, with a degree in Spanish and I welcome clients who mainly speak Spanish. I graduated in 2009 and after satisfying all requirements set forth by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM), I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and licensed in the State of Texas. I have personally attended many births while working at Maternidad La Luz, yet despite the number, I still consider each birth unique and an individual process.
On a personal note, I am engaged to the world’s most magnificent man, Lorenzo Jones. He continues to be God’s perfect gift to me. I have recently relocated to the Hurst area and I am enjoying the lush atmosphere and beauty that the city has to offer. I have a toy poodle and I love to travel, sing and try exotic dishes.
I believe that both pregnancy and birth are miraculous acts blessed upon women. A woman imparts her thoughts, feelings and love while the baby is yet growing in the womb. Women are the first to feel their child’s first movements thus creating a rhythmic connection for both mom and baby. These monumental events set the ground work for lasting connections between mom and baby.
I believe that if freedom and empowerment are encouraged during the birth, as well as if adequate support and education are provided, we can inspire the healthy and satisfying birth desired and all can become more empowered during the process.
